Jan Morrison, President of Teaching Institute for Excellence in STEM (TIES), speaks with Amee Godwin, of ISKME and the CompletionMatters.org project, at the STEMtech 2011 conference. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The work of TIES includes a coordinated reach into the K12 sector to help build the structures and points of connection with the college system and with industry to provide students with a navigable ecosystem, rather than separate siloes. Some promising efforts can be seen in early college high school and dual enrollment programs and those programs with "stackable" credentials driven by business needs. Jan discusses the key industries involved and the urgency for students, the workforce, and the nation. Created by ISKME. Licensed Creative Commons BY-NC-SA.
