Barbara Gault, Vice President and Director of Research, Institute for Women's Policy Research, in conversation with Amee Godwin, of ISKME, for CompletionMatters.org, Conversations on College Completion.
Barbara Gault discusses findings on promising practices that support student parents and postsecondary success. A surprisingly large number of community college students are parents, nearly 29%, making childcare availability, along with other supports, a vital component of completion. Both institution- and student-initiated approaches are being studied to inform policy change based on knowledge about the complex needs of student parents and what beneficial interventions may be having the greatest impact.
