What programs can successfully help students overcome adversity and return to school after dropping out?

Paul Nguyen, Student, Riverside Community College, talks with Amee Godwin of ISKME for CompletionMatters.org, Conversations on College Completion, about his experience and the Gateway to College program.

At the heart of the program, a group of at-risk students who had left high school found supports and guidance to put past experiences behind them in order to believe they can go to college, and then over time, earn college credit and a high school diploma simultaneously. Peer-to-peer mentors and connecting with someone who has been in similar circumstances has given him a positive sense of accomplishment and vision for the future.
