What new models around student success and developmental education are having an impact? Dr. Carlyle Ramsey, President, Danville Community College, VA, talks with ISKME for CompletionMatters.org, Conversations on College Completion, part 2. With the idea that student success is much broader than developmental education, Danville Community College created a new division of Student Success and Academic Advancement, reorganizing student services, transfer, mentoring, tutoring and other supports under one dean. "Middle college" is a model from a New Hampshire-based program to work with K-12 and community partners to support high school drop-outs, ages 18-24, to come back for a self-paced path to success that includes GED completion, college ready certification, completed financial aid package, and student success course. Danvile brings faculty, staff, and families together to celebrate the success of these first-time completers, some of whom are now community college graduates.
